Future48 Workforce Accelerators
With training in electrical technology, advanced manufacturing, broadband fiber optics and solar installation, the Yuma Accelerator includes a 5,600-square-foot expansion of the Wellton Manufacturing Training Center on the Arizona Western College campus. Industry partners include TRAX International and the United States Army Yuma Proving Ground.
Named Drive48, the inaugural accelerator is a collaboration between the Arizona Commerce Authority, Central Arizona College, Pinal County, the City of Casa Grande and Lucid Motors. Drive48 features multiple assembly robots and individual training rooms to prepare workers for automotive manufacturing jobs. Since 2021, more than 2,500 Lucid employees have completed the Drive48 program.
Established in partnership with Mohave Community College, the accelerator supports the region’s growing manufacturing, transportation and mining industries. The accelerator will comprise a more than 30,000 square-foot facility at Kingman Airport and Industrial Park, with industry partners including NUCOR Steel, Progressive Pipe and more.
A partnership with the Arizona Commerce Authority and Maricopa Community Colleges focused on meeting the needs of Arizona’s rapidly growing semiconductor industry. Training at the state-of-the-art facility will take place in close collaboration with semiconductor industry partners, establishing first-of-their-kind training pathways to help more Arizonans enter the microelectronics industry.
Launched in partnership with Pinal County, Central Arizona College, LG Energy Solution and the Arizona Commerce Authority, the accelerator offers workforce training focused on the manufacturing process of cylindrical lithium-ion batteries, used for electric vehicles and other technology applications.
The accelerator provides hands-on training to prepare students for in-demand careers in aerospace and defense manufacturing. The partnership between the Arizona Commerce Authority, Maricopa County Community College, Boeing and Honeywell will include a first-of-its-kind aerospace and defense-focused fab facility.
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES NETWORK
The Arizona Advanced Technologies Network (AATN) was developed in partnership between Maricopa County Community College District, Central Arizona College and Pima Community College alongside local manufacturing leaders to develop a unified, industry-recognized curriculum to develop 21st- century manufacturing skills needed for high-paying, high-tech jobs. Students can now enroll to earn Automated Industrial Technology stackable certificates and degrees, all meeting the standards of the highly regarded National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
Semiconductor Quick Start Program
In partnership with Intel and TSMC, Maricopa Community Colleges launched the Semiconductor Technician Quick Start program in 2022. The affordable two-week program prepares students for careers as semiconductor technicians through hands-on learning from private-industry instructors.
